Celebrating Herberger Institute Day

The Culture and Access department in the Herberger Institute for Design and Arts works to build a culture of empathy and equity across all units in the Institute, and an important part of building that culture is bringing together our community. Herberger Institute Day is one way we do that.

The entire Herberger Institute community celebrated together Nov. 5, 2021 through a series of workshops across disciplines that included hands-on experiences, lectures, open-ended discussions, performance and art workshops, collaborations or more. The day also include live performances and a variety of food trucks.

“I truly believe Herberger Institute Day expresses the soul of the Institute. We are doing on that one day what we aspire to do every day — provide opportunities and pathways for our students and faculty to move seamlessly across the Institute and to access talent and ideas in every discipline, finding inspiration in creative adjacencies. Perhaps ‘joyful’ is the best word to describe the way people engage in the activities and with each other.”
